Dee-Lish-Us!!!

Tiny, tiny hands on a tiny, tiny little guy (and a handsome one at that!)... Nearly a week after he was born, I finally got to meet my friend Heather's new baby, Grayson, last night... In a word? DELISH!!!

Gay Flamingos Pick Up Chick...

LONDON (AFP) - A pair of gay flamingos have adopted an abandoned chick, becoming parents after being together for six years, a British conservation organisation said Monday.

Carlos and Fernando had been desperate to start a family, even chasing other flamingos from their nests to take over their eggs at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) in Slimbridge near Bristol.

But their egg-sitting prowess made them the top choice for taking an unhatched egg under their wings when one of the Greater Flamingo nests was abandoned.

The couple, together for six years, can feed chicks by producing milk in their throats.

"Fernando and Carlos are a same sex couple who have been known to steal other flamingos' eggs by chasing them off their nest because they wanted to rear them themselves," said WWT spokeswoman Jane Waghorn.

"They were rather good at sitting on eggs and hatching them so last week, when a nest was abandoned, it seemed like a good idea to make them surrogate parents."

Gay flamingos are not uncommon, she added.

"If there aren't enough females or they don't hit it off with them, they will pair off with other males," she said.

Oh Baby!

As one of the dwindling holdouts of my age group (for now), I still find it weird to watch a lot of my friends becoming parents -- some several times over! One of my oldest and best friends in the world, Heather, just had her first child last week, a little boy named Robert Grayson (Gray). Of course that's him there to the left -- is he not just absolutely delicious!?

Well, little does this kid know, but I have ordained myself the unofficial godmother. You see, a few years ago. I forced Heather to go out on the town one night with myself and my then-boyfriend... and it was that night when she met her husband, and little Gray's father. So essentially, he exists because of ME!!! (It's an art to be able to turn everything around to be about yourself, isn't it?)

Speaking of friends' babies, I forgot to post that one there to the right of me with my college pal Amanda's little boy, Shep... And yes, it appears as though he's giving my cleavage a thorough "look-see", doesn't it? Hee, hee... It was just a stroke of luck that Amanda & I happened to be at the beach at the same time (especially since she lives in Kentucky!)... I'm just glad I finally got to the meet the little guy (and visit with her, too, of course)! What a cutie...

When you have cute friends... what else can you expect but cute babies!? But don't worry -- I'm not there just yet!!! ;)

Guilty Pleasure...

This is what happens when I get a new "toy" to take up even more of my already-too-short amount of free time. This time, it is Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0... I've just been playing around with different effects and creating some horrendously gawdy images, as you can see (but I'm having fun): Ahhh, sweet Kitty Bug (above)... my poor, tortured little photo subject of late... Little does she know, but she has an appointment on Thursday to be spayed. I love kittens, but I can't have kittens, you know? Not to mention, how can I bitch about pet overpopulation if I don't act myself. All of my family's pets are fixed, actually, now that I think about it. It's just what we've always done. Bob Barker would be pleased. But I digress... More of poor Kitty Bug's sweet little mug:She's a little hard to photograph too well because she spends more times trying to shove her head under my hand, trying to get some more rubs and pats... I guess it's a pretty lucky stray kitty that happens to wander up to my door and hang around (she's already spoiled rotten, despite being an outside cat). What can I say, think it's quite obvious that I turn into total mush when it comes to animals. I'm a sucker... ;)

Tossin' Mullets & Drinkin' Beer...

I don't even know where to begin, I've neglected to update for so long... So I guess I'll try to keep it as short and as sweet as possible for now (meaning, pictures)...

First of all, there is the girls' weekend trip we took down to Orange Beach for the Mullet Toss at the Flora-Bama -- good, good stuff... I mean, all kinds of people to look at and entertain you, horrify you, embarrass you, etc. You get the drift...... needless to say, we had a great time! And of course, the obligatory pictures:
And I can't leave out the GREAT VIEW that we had sitting right in front of us: Yep. You saw it correctly.... I really love the tennis shoes & socks with the banana hammock -- very stylish! And mind you, he would NOT just sit down and be still -- he was up and down, up and down, all day long. Hell, wouldn't you want to show off a that bod if you had it!?

A fun time was definitely had by all -- that is, once Kapree got everything re-packed the car and we actually hit the road (a mere 3 hours behind schedule!)... She just about killed me for taking that picture (probably even more-so for making it the cover of my Shutterfly album for that weekend!), but just check out that tight ass of hers... ha, ha!

Bear With Me...

I know I haven't really updated in way too long, but I do actually have updates to recap, I promise!!! Just be patient and bear with me... maybe I'll find some time tonight to fill you in on all the antics that have been going on in the realm of life, love and the pursuit of happiness -- oh, and the recap of the Flora-Bama Mullet Toss weekend! Good times, good times! Stay tuned...

You Were a Good Dog, George...

George, a 9-year-old Jack Russell is seen in New Plymouth, New Zealand in this undated photo. A plucky foot-high Jack Russell terrier named George saved five New Zealand children from two marauding pitbulls, but was so severely mauled in the fight he had to be destroyed, his owner said Wednesday, April 2, 2007.
