I know, I know... I've been awful about updating, but in my defense, it's because we've been crazy busy with lots & lots going on. So basically, I have a good bit to update -- and pictures, of course! -- but It's quite challenging to find the willpower AND the time to sit down and do it (simultaneously). And therein lies the rub...

But it'll happen, so bear with me & stay tuned......

a day in the life of.........

I spent the day sunbathing in my backyard (sounds like trailer trash, I know, but my backyard is totally secluded) -- it was a beautiful & just breezy enough 82°F (spring is definitely rearing its lovely and colorful head around here)... Now I'm watching one of what Jon calls my Netflix "weird-ass movies", You, Me and Everyone We Know. A lovely Saturday! (Jon was in Demopolis working on his boat all day.)

One of my sweet porch kitties left me a lovely little present at the door: a dead lizard. Aren't I the luckiest girl ever?

Plans are underway for the Mullet Toss '08 trip to the Flora-Bama. If last year is any indication, it should be a hell of a good time, folks!

The dogs and I had an impromptu photo session on Thursday, so here are a few of the results (what can I say, I adore my subjects). It was nothing spectacular, but long overdue:
Speaking of, I had an adorable "a is for annie" onesie made for my friend Molly's even more adorable 3-month old, Annie. My only request in return was just photo of little miss Annie modeling it; and this is what she sent. Words cannot express how delicious this little girl is:
She's so darn cute, it makes my uterus hurt a little.

things that make me smile...

  • Pulling into my driveway each night and seeing Kitty Bug springing from the porch to greet me....
  • I just so happen to own THE most comfortable mattress known to human- [and dog] kind....
  • Finding that *perfect* gift for someone.
  • My Grandmother!!!!
  • The ritual my shih tzu, Mattie, goes through of stuffing her cheeks like a hamster full of dry dog food, trotting to a different & somehow more desirable dining locations, politely spitting out pouched food, and then savoring each nugget one by one in self-imposed peace & quiet...
  • Raw oysters at Acme in NOLA..
  • Faith, Hope & Love....
  • Reading a really, really, really good book. One that makes you miss it after you're done.
  • Pictures, pictures, and more pictures!!!!
  • All the good music I can stand!
  • Good family, good friends (most of them anyway), & good cheer!
  • My too-good-for-me boyfriend, who has oh-so-patiently stood beside me through every crying jag, mood swing, pity party, temper tantrum, etc. You're a good man, Charlie Brown!!!! And I love you to bits!

Chuck Norris kicks ass...

Chuck Norris the only WMD in Iraq, say U.S. troops
By Mohammed Abbas 2 hours, 56 minutes ago

FALLUJA, Iraq (Reuters) - Hollywood action star Chuck Norris, known for his martial arts prowess and tough-guy image, has become a cult figure among the U.S. military in Iraq and an unlikely hero for some in Iraq's security forces.

A small cardboard shrine is dedicated to Norris at a U.S. military helicopter hub in Baghdad, and comments lauding the manliness and virility of the actor have been left on toilet walls across Iraq and even in neighboring Kuwait, soldiers say.

"The fastest way to a man's heart is with Chuck Norris's fist," reads one message at the shrine, which consists of a signed photo of the actor surrounded by similar statements.

"Chuck Norris puts the laughter in manslaughter," reads one and "Chuck Norris divides by zero," reads another.

Known as Chuck Norris "facts," the claims have already become an Internet phenomenon, and scores are featured on http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com, including "Superman wears Chuck Norris pyjamas," and "There are no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, Chuck Norris lives in Oklahoma."

The actor has visited Iraq several times and was made an honorary Marine last year. Some 20 U.S. military personnel and support staff spoken to by Reuters could recite at least one Norris "fact," despite many having not visited the Web site.

U.S. troops in Iraq say his support for them and Norris' invincible image has made him their idol and insist the exaggerated and satirical claims are not meant to mock him.

"The jokes all add to his legend. They're not derogatory. He's an icon," said Sergeant Joe Lindsay at a base in Falluja in Iraq's Western Anbar province, which Norris has visited......

zeppelin. love, love, love.

I'm currently spending my Saturday lazing around on my couch watching live Led Zeppelin shows on VH1 Classic, and loving it. I was totally born a Zeppelin fan, just a few years too late to ever be there, in the moment. Fool in the Rain, The Ocean, Dazed & Confused, Tangerine, Kashmir, When the Levee Breaks, In My Time of Dying, Trampled Underfoot, Gallows Pole, Hot Dog, etc., I'm in love with them all... I've even read books on the band (so I'm a dorky fan to boot!)... These rumors of a possible U.S. spate of shows after the success of the reunion show across the pond delights me to no end! I would so be there, wherever "there" might be!!!

I'm just a happy, mellow and chill little camper right now...

compulsive behavior...

Cannot get this song out of my head, nor stop playing it repeatedly...

"Halah" by Mazzy Star
Well I think I see another side
Maybe just another light that shines
And I look over now through the door
And I still belong to no one else

Maybe I hold you to blame for all the reasons that you left.
And close my eyes 'till I see your surprise
And you're leaving before my time.
Baby won't you change your mind?

Surely don't stay long I'm missing you now.
It's like I told you I'm over you somehow
Before I close the door
I need to hear you say goodbye.
Baby won't you change your mind?

I guess that hasn't changed someone
Maybe nobody else could understand
I guess that you believe you are a woman
And that I am someone else's man

But just before I see that you leave
I want you to hold on things that you said
Baby I wish I was dead.

Surely don't stay long I'm missing you now.
It's like I told you I'm over you somehow
Before I close the door
I need to hear you say goodbye
Baby won't you change your mind?

Hormonal Bitch.

The Eyes Say It All:
It's been an emotional, anxiety-filled roller coaster lately for me (and those poor souls around me!) these past couple of weeks. Not fun feelings, and not always for any particular reason. The tears above sort of speak for themselves, I think.

But I've been places, we've done things, stuff has happened -- I do have updates! However, I will get to them later... Right now, I'd prefer to focus my attention on this oh-so-velvety and lovely glass of wine... Happy Monday, everyone!

a man after my own heart...

"Well you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things I have on."

--Johnny Cash, 'Man In Black'
